The AI coach is an AI
AllStrong's coach is an artificial intelligence, not a person, a counselor or a medical professional. The app tells you so before you first use it.
If you mention suicide or self-harm
Every message sent to the AI coach is checked for language about suicide or self-harm before any AI processing. If a message matches, the AI does not answer it. Instead you get a fixed reply with crisis resources: call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, US, 24/7), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line, 24/7), or call 911 if you are in immediate danger. The reply also says that the coach is an AI and cannot give the support a person can.
This applies to every way of chatting with the coach in the app, and it is never blocked by daily chat limits.
Reminders for users under 18
For users under 18, the coach adds a reminder to its reply that they are talking to an AI, not a person, and that it is a good time to take a break. The reminder comes with the first reply and then again with the first reply once three hours have passed since the last reminder, so during continued chatting it appears at least every three hours.
